This time I've got just two to post, but it's better than nothing. The studio and its garden needed an urgent spring-clean and it's best to do that in the first sunny hours we seem to have for ages O;-)
Hi Ulrike, I am so glad the sun is out, that does make a big difference. These two are marvelous as usual. The feeling of depth and shading even in the distant trees, wow. Both very strong compositions. Like the way the sky and the fields mirror each other in the top one. In my opinion, they are both worthy of painting.
Hi Ulrike, I agree, two are better than nothing. Are these thumbs done in charcoal? I also agree with Naomi; these have great potential for paintings. The compositions are appealing. Enjoy the sun!
Hello Naomi, I've just enjoyed the sun with the nice walk along the river Weser nearby the city. Loads of people were strolling along the shore with a lot of pontons. I wonder how many paintings one can finish in a life time. Thumbnails are easier O;-) Thank you for the compliments.
A thumbnail Sketch is a small and rough sketch outlining the elements in a proposed painting. Thumbnail sketches are a good way to work through an idea, or to try out different compositions. It is up to the artist to decide what medium to use; pencils, charcoal, colored pencils. Notes can be added on thoughts and ideas to carry out in the painting. The shape of the sketch is in proportion with the paper or canvas to be painted.

Hi Phoebe,
ReplyDeleteI've never done thumbies in charcoal. I'm good at spreading its black, especially on my clothes. So, pencil is better for me O:-)
These are really nice thumbs Ulrike, you have captured the countryside so well. I too can see lovely paintings from these.
